History
Inhabited since prehistory (Early Bronze Age burials in the Is Janas and Frumosa caves, Iron Age bronzettes, and the Nuraghe Adoni complex). The medieval village formed in the mid-14th century in the Curatoria of Siurgus (Giudicato of Caralis) before passing through Arborean, Pisan, and Aragonese rule. Incorporated into the Duchy of Mandas under the Carroz, Maza de Liçana, Mendoza, Zuniga, and Téllez-Girón families, it was redeemed to the royal domain in 1843. Formerly in Nuoro and Cagliari provinces, it joined South Sardinia in 2016.
